The trouble is that the media are commercial companies i.e. legal entities. The constitution entitles political rights, specifically to elect and to be elected in public office, only for physical entities, i.e. for physical persons. The election or worse the de facto appointment to public office by parties and practices, other than those constitutionally, institutionally and legally prescribed, raises profound questions of the legal, constitutional and political legitimacy of the person, likewise elected or appointed to office.
For example, Trump questioned the election result and accused Biden of expressly or constructively, deficient title to office. Biden survived this alleged electoral charge, not because he disproved its real or legal significance or that of its carrier but, because he drew current political legitimacy from the support of the American people, which he had and which he further won.
