Here’s how Trump, Harris and their allies have altered their ad spending strategies in October.
Inequality, extreme polarisation, between the few super rich and the many poor, and the elimination of the middle class, are the reasons of the destructive division and friction in America. Which is irrelevant to the accentuated but normal and constructive, personal and political confrontation, in the electoral dialectics.
Inequality, which is naturally and legally incompatible with liberty and democracy, is also the cause of the pervasive constitutional, institutional, social, political, technological, economic and national crisis, which reverberates across the U.S.
Liberty and democracy are central in the American constitution. Freedom and opportunity are functional in the U.S. economy. America fought for liberty and democracy, in the War of Independence, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Cold War, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and the Afghanistan War.
Now, the problem is what will happen if either of the candidates, as President, betrays the voters, the American people and the public, on the issue of inequality, therefore on the fundamental issue of liberty and democracy in the U.S.
In this case the nation has two more institutional pillars to rely on, the Congress and the Supreme Court.
Nevertheless, commander in chief, at least political, of the U.S. Armed Forces is the President. Yet, the military commanders of the U.S. Armed Forces are under oath to honour and abide to the American constitution, just like the President. In addition the Supreme Court has already ruled on the realm and the limits of the presidential power and authority in the U.S.
With the Congress, the Supreme Court and the U.S. Armed Forces, out of the precarious political equation, calculation and possible treason, the American institutions look safe even in the case of presidential delinquency or dereliction, particularly in the critical issue of inequality aka of liberty and democracy. So the fort of the nation will probably hold.
The office of the President is public office for service of the people. The Presidents – officers are under this duty to the people who elected them in this office, directly and with specific constitutional authority and mandate to lead. It is note worthy that this direct election and so the public delegation of executive authority to office of the President, is therefore sharper and more fundamental by comparison to the equivalent delegation of legislative authority to office in Congress or of judicial authority to office in the Supreme Court.
The point however is that, in case the future President, betrays politically and constitutionally the trust and confidence of people and specifically in the peril of inequality, the American crisis, will persevere and possibly exacerbate. Which crisis some foreign, so called, allies by the way, notably systematically exploit (or worse), for their own ruthless political ends. While some major foreign competitors, adversaries and even declared enemies of the U.S., understand that the American demise and crisis, is not to their own ultimate national and international interests and benefits. Even against and despite their own interim political considerations and concerns.
