What does US President Joe Biden’s visit to Berlin mean for NATO and the EU?

It means that the EU faces two security threats:

  • One in the north with Russia, because of Ukraine, the sanctions policy, extremism and terrorism (immediate risk for Poland, the Baltic states, Finland and Germany).
  • One in the south with Israel, because of Turkey, illegal migration, extremism, terrorism and the sanctions policy with Iran (immediate risk for Greece, Cyprus, France, Italy and Spain).

It further means that the U.S faces also two security threats:

  • One in the south, because of Latin America, illegal migration, extremism, terrorism and the sanctions policy with Cuba and Venezuela (immediate risk for Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Florida, inter alia).
  • One in the far east, because of North Korea and the sanctions policy and with China (immediate risk for Taiwan, South Korea, other American alliances in the Pacific and Hawai).

Without counting the situations in the Middle East, Africa and global organised crime, including financial.
